Jan Verwij, Quail Lodge & Golf Club - President & Finance Director
Originally from The Netherlands, Jan studied hospitality in The Hague and Switzerland. He worked in London and for the past 10 years in Chicago for The Peninsula hotels. Jan worked at Quail during the re-opening of the Lodge in 2012 and 2013 and now returns to Carmel to join the team permanently as the Resort Manager. He is married to Katey who he met right before he was asked to join the team to re-open the Lodge in 2012. Besides work both Katey and Jan are active diners, we love to play board games, hiking and stay active in the community. Jan worked as a teacher at his alma mater, Chicago Campus and served on the Auxiliary board of the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago.
Jen Anello, Santa Lucia Preserve - Co - Membership & Community Development
Now in her second decade at the prestigious Santa Lucia Preserve, Jen Anello is one of the most recognized members of the management team, whose energy, service and organizational acumen have had a positive impact on the club lifestyle throughout the private mountain community secluded high above Carmel Valley.
Unofficially, Jen is The Preserve’s “Ambassador of Fun.”
In her current role as Director of Membership, Jen oversees the development and implementation of the Santa Lucia Preserve business plan, programming and member experiences. She works in collaboration with the communications team, sales and marketing, as well as real estate to ensure and enhance the unique Preserve lifestyle.
Jen has worn several hats at The Preserve since her first position as Concierge in the fall of 2003. She later was promoted to Events & Hospitality Manager for The Ranch Club, a position created for her skill set. For seven years she managed all aspects of hospitality offerings, which included lodging, dining, recreational activities and special events.
Jen is a member of the Private Club Marketing Association and Club Managers Association of America, as well as serving on numerous committees at the Santa Lucia Preserve.
Annelise Brabeck Willford, The Quail and Olive
Annelise graduated college with a biology degree and went into Radiological studies where she worked as a registered radiologic technologist for 16 years. She attended Culinary Medicine program offered at Tulane Medical School and have now taken over the family business at the Quail and Olive. Her family is from the mid-west and moved to the East coast where she spent most of her childhood as well as attended college. Annelise was married to a military man and traveled with their children to various states. She has always shared her father’s belief of food is medicine and is so honored to carry out their shared vision with The Quail and Olive.
Jim Flagg, Blue Sky Lodge, Contenta Inn & Camp Carmel Valley - Co-Membership & Community Development Director
Jim is currently President of Ocean Park Hotels, Inc. a hotel development and management company. Jim founded Ocean Park Hotels in 2000. Since 2000, Jim created a portfolio of 18 hotels in California, Arizona, and New Mexico, of which nine were built ground-up and nine were successful repositions.
In addition Jim is currently a Director with Silver Lining Hospitality which has ownership and management of three small boutique inns and a camp located in the Carmel, California area.
Jim has been awarded the “Developer of the Year” by both the Hilton and Marriott companies. Jim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cal Poly and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California at Davis Law School. Since graduating from UC Davis and prior to founding Ocean Park Hotels he held senior real estate and banking positions with Woodmont Companies, American Savings & Loan, First Interstate Bank and Imperial Credit Commercial Mortgage Investment Co. (REIT).
Nathan Millan – Joullian Vineyards & Winery - Business Advocacy Director
Nathan is the Hospitality Manager at Joullian Vineyards & Winery and has been since moving to Carmel Valley Village with his wife and two dogs in August 2017 from Seattle, Washington. While being a part of the wine and beer industry for ten years, he has found a home in the Carmel Valley wine country and is eager to be an active member of the local community, both as a resident and business manager. He hopes that his industry knowledge and Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and Marketing will help him to bring a heightened awareness to Carmel Valley and everything it has to offer, for locals and tourists alike.
Jennifer Roux, ROUX & CV Chophouse - Co-Marketing Director
Jennifer Roux is the owner of ROUX and Carmel Valley Chophouse Restaurants in Carmel Valley with her husband Chef Fabrice Roux as her partner. She has 20 years of experience in education administration and holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology as well as a Master’s of Science in Educational Leadership. Jennifer is passionate about hospitality and sharing how rich life can be lived through food and wine.Jennifer Roux is the owner of ROUX Restaurant in Carmel Valley with her husband Chef Fabrice Roux as her partner. She has 20 years of experience in education administration and holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology as well as a Master’s of Science in Educational Leadership.
